Impact on Society:
  • Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States was one of the pivotal players in keeping this great nation together.

  • In 1862 Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation proclamation. The Emancipation proclamation was the document that issued the slaves their freedom. The only drawback was that the South had already seceded  to form the Confederate States of America. Since the slaves lived in the South most of them could not benefit from the Emancipation proclamation until after the Civil War had ended.
