High School Summer Reading Program

Check Out Summer Reading May 10-23

LSHS students can bag some great books for the summer, plus get a free cinch-style backpack! Students who will be freshmen through seniors in 2013-14 can check out up to 10 books between May 10 and 23. Anyone who checks out 10 books will get a brand new cinch-style backpack to take the books home. The backpack is yours to keep; the books don't need to be returned until the first day of school. Ready Reference books and videos can't be checked out, but everything else is up for grabs. Plus, students have the option of returning books to Lee's Summit High school during the summer and checking out new titles from our library-- even if you're not enrolled in summer school.

Take the summer reading challenge!

Included in each summer reading bag is the "Summer Reading Bingo" challenge sheet. Any student who completes a bingo in any direction and returns the sheet (and all the summer checkouts) to the library on the first day of school wins a prize! Blackout winners (doing all the activities listed) earn an extra prize. Click here to download an extra copy of the summer reading challenge bingo sheet.

LSHS Summer Library Hours

Any high school student from the R7 district will be able to return and check out books during the summertime, even if they're not enrolled in summer school. The Lee's Summit High School library is open during summer school hours.
