Meetings:

Students involved in groups offered by the Music Department are expected to enroll in music classes here at LSHS. Information will be distributed through classes. If you don't receive information, then contact one of the Music Department teachers in rooms C30 (instrumental) or C32 (vocal).

Time Commitment:

Students will rehearse in class during the school day and perform on selected evenings. There are also numerous competitions throughout the year.

How to Join:

Prospective members will audition with the director for placement in the spring. Students will enroll in the appropriate class. New stduents to LSHS should contact Mr. Finch.

All freshmen are recommended by their Middle School Director or through approval of Mr. Munce. Each member must be enrolled in class.

Description:

Symphonic Band is the highest-level ensemble that performs the most difficult high school literature. Concert Band is nearing-advanced level ensemble that performs intermediate literature. Members of the Symphonic and Concert Bands make up the Golden Tiger Marching Band in the first semester. Symphonic and Concert Bands compete in MSHSAA sponsored competitions. Varsity Band will perform approximately two to three concerts per year.

These choirs are a part of the school's daily curriculum. They will get performance experience by singing in concerts and Pop N' Jazz. See the Enrollment Handbook for more information.

Eligibility Requirements:

Band - Must have two years mid-school band experience and LSHS band director audition/recommendation to enroll in the class.

Choir - Students must be enrolled in the individual classes.
